    Going to Chicago
Hello all. I'll be going to Chicago on Thursday for a pretty impromptu society meeting, basically going to be like a press release with lots of grilling for questions, on why the board of my honor society is seeming like their trying to screw us over. Anyway... I was curious if anyone was in the area (near Union Station) who might not mind putting me and one other up for Thursday and/or Friday night. We really don't want to impose so if it's any problem at all don't worry about it.

Anyway, we'll also have some down-time and I was curious about if there were certain ways I should spend it. I've only been to Chicago Once on like a 5th grade trip to a historical museum of some sort.

    I got game!
So some of you may be aware that one of my classes this semester is video game design. In this class we make 3 games throughout the semester. The 1st of which was an arcade game involving a penguin who jumps around on platforms to get to a goal. This one I'm not ready to let go off yet with certain tweaks I want to make.

The one I just completed is a text-based game. If you would like to play this game I have posted it online. First you must install the runner for the game. Click here to download the runner. Extract the files from the zip file and run setup. Once the runner is installed you can download the game itself. To download the game, right-click this and click "Save Link as..." or "Save Target As..." depending on what browser you use and save it to somewhere on your computer. If you left-click it you'll end up viewing the binary file and it'll look like your browser just threw up on the screen.

Now just open up the runner, which will be called 'ADRIFT Runner', click on 'Adventure' at the top of the screen and open up the game file you just downloaded.

I hope you enjoy it, post your thoughts on the game here and happy mating!

Should you choose to accept it...
My mission for you is to play this game and get all fields maxed out. Record the order you did things in and post it as a reply. If you don't "win" post the best combination that you found. The best combo I can remember atm is: ME, Arch, Civil, Enviro, Aero, EE, CS, Chem. Good luck.

    EDIT:

And so with a little Googling I found out the TWO full endings:

    Normal Ending

    Mechanical
    Civil
    Architecture
    Environmental
    Aeronautics

    Little house on the cube
So today I stood up in my cubicle from sitting down and just looked around. I very soon had to sit right back down because what I saw was going to make me laugh.

The cube walls are maybe about 5'5" so if you're taller than that you can see over them and everyone else's head who's standing up. That's precisely what I saw but my mind made the connection to everyone being prairie dogs. I thought it was so hilarious that when I sat back down I just started to laugh.

I decided I'd sit down for a while before going to the bathroom in fears that that image would still be there.

    Happy Juice
So changed my car's oil today by myself without accidentally draining my trans fluid or anything, and I felt special. There was however one slight glitch:

    A short review
I think I'm going to show all you people the web comics I like to read. The hopes is that I can spread the goodness with all of you. All of these sites have RSS feeds which is basically a requirement for me to read a web comic.

    Cyanide and Happiness
    # of comics online: 911
Simple, crude, maybe a bit offensive, but effective. You don't need to read many of them to figure out what kind of humor they like.

    VG Cats
    # of comics online: 235
This on mainly involves two personified cats who discuss/appear in different video games. This ones great for people who love jokes usually made at the expense of certain video games, or those who play them.

    XKCD
    # of comics online: 269
This comic is all about smart humor. You're almost guaranteed to not understand all the material they use. A lot of it is based on various fields of science, math and psychology. It's incredibly original and has grown to have quite an audience.

    MegaTokyo
    # of comics online: 1005
Of all the comics I read this is the one I most anticipate the new episodes of, but they've unfortunately been slacking on updating their RSS feed as of late. It is story-based and has a great character cast. It's basically about two nerdy guys, one a shy introvert intelligent guy and the other a 1337 h4Ckz0r (whom speaks no Japanese), who go to Japan on a whim and ending up getting stuck there. Of course they meet a whole bunch of people there. It has aspects of a love story, it has more mischievous story going on and so much more that'll makes you smile.

    Enjoy

So yesterday I went to DEMF. It was pretty cool. A lot more fun than I thought it would be. It was definitely worth the losing my hearing a couple years earlier, smelling of all kinds of smoke (none of which from wood fires), getting a little bit sun burnt and having a sore neck.

Today at work I was finally given all the stuff (software and knowledge) I need to actually do some work. It was pretty boring but for a first day of doing actual work I think I impressed the team lead.

    Compuware
I'm at work right now. It's lunch break so I'm here. Here's a bunch of pictures of the building I'm in.

    A few notes:
"lounge2" is a picture from inside our CEO's office.
"cafe2" is a picture of the cafe that's on our 2nd floor. The food is really good but
    poorly over-priced.
"wellness" is our gym, also located on our 2nd floor. It has racket ball courts, a track,
training rooms, I believe a basket ball court and I'm sure some other features I'm not
    aware of.
"daycare" is our employee daycare, low and behold ALSO on our 2nd floor, that is quite
    large and sweet.
"daycare2" is an outside playground that is elevated above a street and right next to the
2nd floor access bridge (which is what you see in the background) to the 10 level parking
    structure.

I work on the 5th floor but often have to go up to the top floor, the 15th floor, which
is where our auditorium and several large conference rooms are for intern gatherings.

They're probably monitoring my use of the internet... But I swear I'm on lunch break so... so there!

Also... they've blocked YouTube and that makes me a bit sad.

More about work to come later.

So this incredibly tough spot as far as work goes is coming to an end... We're talking all of my free time (minus some taken out for particular events) was being spent on hw straight. I started to get really sick of it, but it's almost over and then I'll be able to have some actual free time. What's the cause for this? probably because have two exams next week that I'm not nearly ready for.

For all of you I haven't told, I officially have an internship over the summer pending a drug test. I guess I should stop smoking the pot for while then eh? It's with a company called Compuware in Detroit. I will be working on a software project and other random tasks over the summer. I get my own cubicle, desk, computer,... I'm excited. I'll be staying with my uncle in Canton, he works there too.
